SAR Lubricants joins Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
SAR Lubricants – 02 July 2025
Within the lubricants and oils industry, sustainability is becoming a long-term commitment. SAR Lubricants are proud to announce our latest step towards sustainability: becoming accredited by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to Version 7.0 standards.
Our accreditation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to environmentally responsible, ethical, and transparent business practices.

what is gots
The Global Organic Textile Standard is the world’s leading certification for organic fibres, recognised for its strict criteria around ecological and social responsibility. From raw material harvesting, to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, GOTS ensures that every step in the textile supply chain meets the highest global standards.
Though traditionally associated with the textile sector, GOTS accreditation also reflects the alignment of companies like SAR, with the values of sustainable production, ethical partnerships, and full supply chain transparency.
Our work to achieve accreditation has meant we are now approved to Version 7.0 standards – which includes a rigorous review of SAR practices – including on-site audits. Version 7.0 covers a wide array of responsible business conducts from environmental, chemical, human rights and social to governance. The latest version has expanded to include a wider scope of environmental and social criteria.
SAR worked across teams to ensure compliance and were subject to, but not limited to the following types of inspections and checks:
GOTS’ dedication to their mission of ensuring the ‘highest level of social and environmental impact’ is reflected in how they assess applicants. At SAR we agree to this mission and work hard to ensure we are maintaining GOTS standards throughout our business.
WHY OUR GOTS ACCREDITATION MATTERS
Joining GOTS demonstrates SAR Lubricants’ ongoing investment in sustainable innovation, from the way we source and produce, to how we support our partners across textile and industrial markets.
Here’s how GOTS certification strengthens our mission:
Ensuring organic integrity
GOTS certification guarantees that any products are made from at least 70% organic fibres. The standard monitors the entire production chain, ensuring no contamination with non-organic materials.
Environmental responsibility
GOTS sets clear limits on water usage, bans hazardous chemicals, and mandates responsible waste management. These standards align closely with our own environmental policies and provide the reassurance that SAR Lubricants is committed to environmental responsibility, across our manufacturing process.
Social fairness
At SAR Lubricants we believe in ethical business, and GOTS reinforces that with strict criteria ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers’ rights across the supply chain.
Consumer confidence
For our customers, GOTS certification means transparency, reliability, and peace of mind. It’s a seal of assurance that the products our customers purchase from SAR are meeting globally respected sustainability benchmarks.
Business benefits
For SAR Lubricants, GOTS v7 accreditation has strengthened our reputation as a future-focused, values-led business. It helps us attract sustainability-minded partners and customers, reduce operational risk, and comply with an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
Global reach & opportunity
GOTS opens doors to new markets, including government and public procurement sectors, where sustainability is expected. It also enables smoother global trading processes, by following its standardised, internationally recognised benchmarks.
SAR’s sustainable future
Our GOTS v7 accreditation is more than a badge, it’s reassurance for our customers. As we continue to serve the textiles industry where lubrication plays a critical role, we’re doing so with a sharp focus on environmental accountability, supply chain ethics, and innovative sustainability.
Pedro Lima, Global Export Manager at SAR Lubricants, commented: “Everyone at SAR is proud of this amazing achievement. It is testament to the hard work we put in day-to-day to maintaining our high-quality lubricants, oils and excellent standards of customer service. After such an outstanding first half of 2025, this year is proving to be our best yet!”
We’re proud to become a GOTS member and look forward to continuing to raise the bar for what responsible production looks like, not just in textiles, but across every sector.
